The Amsterdam based Yuri Boselie, alias Cinnaman, is rightfully known as one of the leading Dutch DJs of the moment. At an early age he stepped up behind the decks and his years of experience clearly come to the fore in his eclectic DJ sets. Cinnaman plays a wide range of styles and is never afraid to mix the known with the unknown. From house to hip-hop, from techno to garage: Cinnaman never hesitates to take risks in his sets and always draws for remarkable combinations and transitions. By holding residencies at legendary venues Club 11 and Trouw for the last eight years, he can now call Amsterdam-based club De School his home. His eclectic style can also be seen in his variety of guests at De School. Cinnaman is an all-rounder: not only is he a DJ and a curator, he is also a producer. By releasing music with artists and friends alike such as Tom Trago and Breach, Cinnaman shows that he is one to keep an eye on. And dont forget to check his monthly Red Light Radio show!
Honoring their confusing name, contradiction has become the trademark of this up and coming band from Holland. To create a sound of their own the five-piece band skillfully demolished the walls between hip hop, jazz, funk, rock and reggae music. Sultry like a warm summer at times; but always pumping, roaring, and exuberant when performed live on stage. Destructive Penguins' debut EP Walkin’, released independently in February 2016 after a successful crowdfunding campaign, mainly showcased the band's live reputation and was well received among fans in Holland with plenty shows countrywide as a result. Their latest release High/Low EP (Februari 2017) has been produced with the help of Oscar de Jong (Kraak & Smaak) and reveals a more mature sound with deeper lyrics and smarter arrangements. High/Low definitely underlines the potential and ambition of this young band.
In 2016 lanceerde HeavyLight hun nieuwste single: ‘Temper’.
‘’I just want to make people happy with my music’’– said Kasper Vrielink, also known as Kav Verhouzer, when he signed to SONY Benelux. Big artists like Oliver Heldens, Tiësto, Kygo and Sam Feldt supported his latest releases. After the success of his track ’Hot Skin’’ together with Sam Feldt in 2014, which hit over 12 million streams on Spotify, and the release of the bootleg ‘’Nothing Really Matters’’ of Mr Probz, which hit over 8 million streams on Soundcloud, Kav’s popularity has grown. These two tracks were the beginning of an explosion of streams on his Soundcloud and Spotify channel. This wasn’t unnoticed by Spotify itself as Spotify chose him as one of the Spotify Spotlight Artists for 2016 in The Netherlands. The confidence of Spotify in Kav Verhouzer was paid back by his track ‘’Get What You Came For’’ together with BullySongs, which was in the Dutch Pop Charts and reached over 4 million streams in only 4 months time. With a passion of creating uplifting tracks with melodic breaks and climaxes Kav Verhouzer is known for his feel good music. He got inspired making this music by listening to jazz, deep house and tech-house. You still hear the digital sounds combined with the warmth of acoustic sounds in his productions. The big wave of great releases that just keeps on coming, the support of great artists and the high energy level performances make Kav Verhouzer, as Spotify already said, an important artist to watch for the upcoming years.
Their family name isn’t the only thing these 2 brothers have in common. An intense and deep-rooted family connection, a strong sense of solidarity and an intense musical passion constitute but a few of their distinguishing shared attributes. Tenzers represent a wide and sophisticated range of music, which they’ve been collecting over the years. Their diverse and versatile sound is deeply rooted in techno and house coming from both Detroit and Chicago, but branches further out into electro, IDM, disco, jazz, afro and anything else that catches their fancy while digging for eclectic and exotic records. Their open-minded approach to mixing enables them to blend all this musical diversity into a refined genre-crossing fusion.
Student dorms aren’t the usual catalyst for great musical achievements, but this is where Mark Haaxman and Lars Maasland better known as LarryKoek started their own musical journey. They literally arose in the 80’s when two cute little baby boys where born somewhere in The Hague. Soaked with musical influences from these days the baby’s developed rather quickly in to real music lovers. After a few years of independent exploration, the LarryKoek duo formed in August 2014. The first eye opening work of these two Dutchmen sparked the interest of record label Be Yourself Music and led to the release of summer anthem ‘’Honeybee’’ on Dirty Soul records. They created a unique funky sound in nowadays dance music, filled with guitar riffs, disco rhythms and catchy vocals.
Explosive fuzz sounds and thick waves of 'verb will keep you floating as the boys of The HAZZAH bring you their surfy garagerock. November 2016 The HAZZAH released their first 7" called 'New Fuzz/I Will Wait For You', wich they recorded with Henk Koorn (Hallo Venray) at Sahara Sound Studio. As 3voor12 Den Haag explains 'I Will Wait For You' makes you feel like you're in California, cruising down the coast in your Volkswagen van. In spirit the boys of The HAZZAH are right there, in that van, fueled up and ready to go. Being described by Muzine as a "energiek stelletje mafkezen",... translate that, you could only guess what would happen next.
Danceable, fast-paced and energetic to the bone - Left Alive play punkrock from the heart. These four Dutchies fuse catchy riffs like Green Day’s with powerful, Paramore style vocals and pulsating electronic samples. After making their first stage appearance in 2015, their thundering live act has blown away lots of club and festival crowds. The band’s main feats include playing at Westerpop and de Grote Prijs van de Bollenstreek. Left Alive will release its brand new single ‘Leave It’ and the accompanying music video in March 2017. Meanwhile they are getting back to the studio to write more new material, following up on their first EP Empty Sidewalks (2015). Go see them this summer at one of their upcoming gigs!
The Tango Soundsystem boys, both in love with Italo Disco, found each other in Delft. They immediately decided to join forces, and bring Italo Disco to the people. They only spin vinyl, digging their way through markets to find the new records. Their euphoric choice of music is strongly influenced by dance music of the 80’s and is mostly not played by others. Nevertheless, their choice of songs will give you the feeling that you have heard them before and will get you moving to the beat. Meanwhile their repertoire has expanded from Italo Disco to Afro Beat, smooth Disco, Electro and much more...
Former boardmember of our Studentassociation i.d, DJ Plia, has now come to IO Festival to present to us his DJ skills! For this last hour during IO Festival, it is promised to get totally crazy. A little ‘escalation’ as the Dutch would like to call it. You’re last bit of energy is well spent while dancing on these fantastic final tunes.
